



HOUSE LOGO . BRANDING
Client:
Tim McMullan, a transformational coach and intuitive consultant, returned to awen&co for a personal project: a custom logo for the East Hampton home he and his husband built. The modern house, with striking gabled forms clad in shou sugi ban, has been featured in architecture publications and earned top design awards.
Challenge:
Tim wanted a handcrafted, sophisticated logo that reflected the home’s elegance and could work on everything from cocktail napkins to apparel. It needed to feel personal, modern, and timeless.





Our Role:
We were commissioned to create two logo versions celebrating the home: one a simple black filled line drawing, and the other incorporating a hand-drawn shou sugi ban texture within the same footprint. Both needed to feel timeless, versatile, and reflective of the home’s architectural character.
Approach:
We drew inspiration from the home’s gabled forms and shou sugi ban cladding, studying its architectural lines to guide the logo’s structure. The two concepts allowed for flexibility, one minimal and modern, the other textured and detailed, both capturing the home’s sophistication in a personal, handcrafted way.
Creative Direction:
The final logos combine clean, modern geometry with artisanal touches, subtly referencing the shou sugi ban texture of the home. This approach ensures the designs work beautifully across formats, from small gifts to apparel, celebrating the house’s architectural elegance.
outcome:
Tim and his husband loved the final logos, which now serve as a meaningful, versatile symbol of their home. The designs complement a house that has earned accolades such as Best Weekend Home in the 2024 Interior Design NYCxDESIGN Awards and Exterior Architecture in the 2024 Luxe RED Awards, translating its architectural distinction into a personal, refined identity.
