Tis the season for spooky, cringe worthy red flags that are killing your brand.

brand mistakes

#1 Inconsistent Visuals: ☝️This one’s simple. Your brand should be instantly recognizable across all platforms. If your logo, colors, and typography are constantly changing or used inconsistently, it creates confusion and erodes trust. A strong brand relies on consistent visual elements that reinforce its identity.

#2 Overcomplicated, Detailed Logos: 😬 Eeek. We see a lot of people calling illustrations ‘logos’. While a logo should be unique, it also needs to be simple and versatile. Overly detailed logos can be hard to reproduce, especially at small sizes, and can lose their impact. A strong logo is memorable, scalable, and effective across various applications.

#3 Low Quality, Stock, or AI Generated Images: 😤 We can’t stand this!! In today's visual world, the quality of your imagery speaks volumes. Using blurry, pixelated, generic stock photos, or unrefined AI-generated images cheapens your brand and makes it appear unprofessional. Invest in high-quality, authentic visuals that resonate with your audience and reflect your brand's unique personality.

#4 Chasing Design Trends: 😳 They’re called trends for a reason. Design trends come and go, but your brand should have enduring appeal. Constantly overhauling your brand to follow every new trend makes it look fleeting and inauthentic. While it's good to stay current, your core brand identity should remain consistent and timeless.

#5 You Used Canva for Your Logo: 😩 Especially if you used a canva logo template. While Canva is a fantastic tool for many design needs, it's not ideal for creating a professional, unique logo. Logos created in Canva often lack the customizability, scalability (vector files), and professional polish needed for a strong brand identity. A truly effective logo is a strategic investment, often requiring the expertise of a professional designer.

#6 Your Messaging is All Over the Place: One day you’re professional and the next you’re throwing f bombs. 🤬 Your brand's message should be clear, concise, and consistent. If your core values, mission, and unique selling proposition are muddled or constantly changing, your audience won't understand what you stand for. A unified message helps build a strong connection with your target market.

#7 You’re Trying to Appeal to Everyone: 🫣 We run into this one all the time. When you try to appeal to everyone, you end up appealing to no one. A strong brand identifies its ideal customer and tailors its messaging, visuals, and offerings specifically to them.

#8 Your Branding Was Not Strategic: 🧐 We solve problems, we don’t JUST make things ‘look good’. Effective branding isn't just about pretty colors and a cool logo; it's a strategic process. If your branding wasn't built on a foundation of market research, target audience analysis, and clear business goals, it will likely fall flat. Strategic branding considers every aspect of your business and how it resonates with your customers.
